Custom logo packaging: choosing the right print method

The print method decides how your logo looks on the shelf, how much the unit costs, and how low your minimum can go. · By the Chufei sourcing team · Updated 2026-10-17

Custom logo velvet pouch for cutlery packaging

First, separate the bag from the print

Packaging quotes confuse buyers because two decisions are bundled into one price: what the bag is and how the logo goes on. A cotton tote with a one-colour screen print is a different product from the same tote with a woven label — different machinery, different minimum, different lead time. Quote them separately and you can optimise each.

What actually drives the cost

  • Number of colours. Each screen colour adds set-up time, not just ink.
  • Print area. A 5 cm logo and a 25 cm logo are not the same job.
  • Bag material. Velvet and burlap need different handling than plain cotton.
  • Quantity. Set-up is fixed; the more pieces, the less it costs per unit.
  • Finishing. Drawstrings, grommets, inner lining and hangtags each add a step.

Artwork: what to send so sampling is not delayed

Send vector artwork (AI, EPS or SVG) with fonts converted to outlines. If you only have a bitmap, send at least 300 dpi at the final print size. Tell us the Pantone references if colour accuracy matters — screen colours and fabric inks do not match by default.

Sampling: custom logo and packaging samples take about 5 working days after artwork approval. Stock packaging ships the same day.

Matching packaging to the product

Packaging is not an afterthought in gift programmes — it is often the reason the item sells. A 24-piece cutlery set in a printed sleeve reads as a retail product; the same set loose in a carton reads as inventory. Our custom packaging range covers cotton totes, drawstring pouches and velvet bags, and we can pack your cutlery into them so the goods arrive retail-ready.

Common questions

What is the minimum for custom logo packaging?

It depends on the method. Screen printing has the lowest minimum and suits small runs. Woven labels are made in bulk by the label mill, so they carry a higher minimum. Tell us the quantity and we will recommend the method that fits rather than forcing you into one.

How long does a custom packaging sample take?

About five working days after you approve the artwork. Stock packaging without a logo can ship the same day.

Can you print on dark or textured fabric?

Yes, but the method changes. Velvet and burlap need different inks and handling than plain cotton, and some full-colour artwork needs a transfer rather than a direct print. Send the artwork and we will confirm what works.
